Inquiring
Minds Want to Know
Let's begin
the year off in the right way!!! Starting in January we
will start a new series in our Wednesday night Bible study
class and on Sunday mornings based on the book by Adam
Hamilton entitled CREED,
What Christians Believe and Why.
We will be offering this as an option for persons who are
interested in becoming members of the church as well as
everyone else who wants to learn more about what we believe
as United Methodists.
JUST
HAVE QUESTIONS: We will try to answer
them as best we can.
INTERESTED
IN MEMBERSHIP: Here is your opportunity
in a non-threatening way.
WANT
TO KNOW WHAT UNITED METHODISTS BELIEVE:
We will try to share that information as well.
A sign-up sheet is available in the narthex. Join us on
Wednesday nights at 7:00 p.m. (dinner with the youth starts
around 6:30) and on Sunday mornings in January.
The
Bible for Curious People - a Tuesday Morning Study
How did the
bible come to be in the form we have?
Why are there so many different versions and translations in
English?
What is the overall story of the “Old Testament”?
These are some of the questions we will explore together
Tuesday mornings from 10:30am-12:00noon. No prior bible
reading or knowledge or expertise needed. We will all learn
as we go along. All are welcome. Classes start this week,
Tuesday January 15th.
ASSIGNMENT FOR WEEK 2 (JANUARY 22ND)
Read your bible’s introduction to Genesis. What does it say
about when and why Genesis was written?
Read chapters 1 and 2. Listen for the poetry. But also make
use of any notes in your study bible. How do the two accounts
differ? How do they compliment each other?Try to step
past this as a story of how the world began and
consider what the stories say about why God created
and how we are supposed to live in the world? What are we
doing to be good stewards of all creation? How might we
improve in that role?

Gratitude
“Alone we can
do so little.
TOGETHER WE CAN DO SO MUCH!” - Helen Keller
On December 18 and 19, 2018, Woodridge United Methodist
Church (WUMC) served over 60 homeless guests at the Downers
Grove Methodist Church. Through food donations and
volunteers who staffed the shelter, it took about the same number
of faithful people from our congregation to accomplish
this. There were some “bumps in the road”, but we
brought Christ to the homeless guests, and in our
midst, Christ was there! THANK YOU! YOU’RE
WELCOME!
PLEASE SAVE THE FEBRUARY DATES: FEBRUARY 19 AND
20, 2019. A NEW SIGN UP SHEET IS IN THE NARTHEX.
