WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

"A Certain Level of Trust"

Sometimes in life there are people, places and things that we place a limited amount of our trust in.  We are not always "full in" to everything or everybody.  There is this unknown limit of how far we will go and that is it.  Sunday's scripture lessons about the experiences of 2 widows -- one from the Old Testament and the other from the Gospels-- remind us of what it means to have "A CERTAIN LEVEL OF TRUST".  While their example is great for a Bible passage, how does that transfer into "real life" situations, especially in 2019?  Let's take a look and see if we can't get some answers to that burning question.

Don't forget to bring your financial commitment form as we acknowledge together how committed we are to God and to the Woodridge United Methodist Church.

Join me on Sunday at 9:00 or 10:30 a.m..  ALL are welcome!

Woodridge UMC is an open and loving United Methodist community striving to:

Welcoming to all;
Uniting in service toward greater social justice for all;
Moving forward with understanding and acceptance of all peoples;
Creating disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Our purpose is to offer a safe place and community to all races, cultures, religions, genders, sexual identities, ethnicities, age groups and other beliefs.

West Suburban Community Pantry Donation Promotions
There are things that the WSCP tries to provide but they always seem to be in short supply. Items like diapers, wipes, and paper products fall into this category. Along with the always appreciated food donations, we are starting donation promotions emphasizing these types of items. For the month of October we are asking for:

Disposable diapers, size 3 to 6

SNAP coupons cannot be used to purchase diapers, so your donations help tremendously. Thank you!

Thanksgiving Food Boxes and Turkeys for Trinity UMC
Please sign-up in the Narthex to donate food boxes and turkeys for families at our sister church, Trinity United Methodist in Joliet.  Your donation provides a holiday meal for a family who would otherwise do without.  Pick up a list of items to include in each food box at the Outreach table in the Narthex.  Turkeys and food boxes are due back in the church kitchen TODAY by 5:00 Friday, November 22nd. (Please be aware of church office hours when dropping off your donation).

Christmas Food boxes

THE MITTEN TREE IS CALLING FOR YOUR DONATIONS
The mitten tree is available in the Narthex to accept your donations of children’s mittens, gloves, warm hats and scarves. The donations are going to Woodridge School District 68. They give them out to children who don’t have appropriate gear for the winter weather. We’ll be harvesting the tree a couple of times. Please donate as you can.

DECEMBER TOY DRIVE
Whether they’ve been naughty or nice, every child deserves a toy at Christmas. You can help by donating a new toy, unwrapped, and placing it in the box in the Narthex by Sunday, December 15th. They will be distributed to our neighbors in need. Your donation can make a world of difference this holiday season. The Pantry has the most need of toys for boys and girls aged 2 to 12.
