WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

"Treasures in Jars of Clay"

Strong lay leadership is a hallmark of Woodridge United Methodist Church. That was true at our founding and it is true today. So it is especially fitting that this Sunday, October 21st, we are celebrating both Laity Sunday and our congregation’s 55th anniversary.

The purpose of Laity Sunday is to focus on the celebration of the ministry of all lay Christians. Our Lay Leader, Rick Hultgen, and friends will lead worship this week. Based on 2 Corinthians 4:7 and John 17:21-22, Rick will share his sermon, “Treasure in Jars of Clay.”

To commemorate the church’s 55th anniversary, both Sunday morning worship services (9:00 & 10:30AM) will include greetings from former pastors and members. After worship, the anniversary celebration goes into full swing with a delicious luncheon. Don’t be surprised to see some special guests.

Woodridge UMC is known for providing care to those in need. So it is quite fitting that part of our 55th anniversary celebration is collecting non-perishable food items for our long-time partners, West Suburban Community Pantry. (In fact, the people of Woodridge UMC helped start the Pantry!) If you are able, bring a gift of at least one pound of non-perishable food. Our goal is to have at least 55 pounds to give to the Pantry.

Be part of this opportunity to celebrate 55 years in Woodridge — as we plan for the next 55 years of sharing God’s love for all people.

See you in church this Sunday, October 21st. All are welcome!

Be part of the discussion at our summer worship gathering on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome!

Woodridge UMC is an open and loving United Methodist community striving to:

Welcoming to all;
Uniting in service toward greater social justice for all;
Moving forward with understanding and acceptance of all peoples;
Creating disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

Our purpose is to offer a safe place and community to all races, cultures, religions, genders, sexual identities, ethnicities, age groups and other beliefs.
