Photos

We would like
to decorate our newly named rooms. Please send copies of any photos of Friendship
Church in the Philippines, Trinity Church in Joliet, or of Jack Sipley to
the office so that we might make a display. (We will return your
originals). Thank you to those that have already sent us photos. We are
still in need of some for those remaining on the list.
ACTIVE SHOOTER
TRAINING
In response to
interest, the Northern Illinois Conference is providing free online
training addressing an “Active Shooter” situation. The framework of
the course being offered to Conference churches focuses on the nationally
recognized methodology entitled ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and
Evacuate). The objective of the course is to authorize and empower
individuals with the tools necessary to increase survivability during a
violent event. Each church is allowed access to the online ALICE training
module once on a group basis. The group should include church
pastoral staff, ushers, and church leadership. It is not intended for the
membership at large. Each NIC member church is encouraged to complete
the Active Shooter training by December 15, 2018. If you would like to be
included in WUMC's group, please contact the church office.
Yoga Every
Thursday
Yoga is one
way to create strength, balance, and flexibility in the body's also a time
to practice stillness and develop patience. Please wear comfortable
clothing that ensures privacy while allowing mobility. Bring a mat or a
large towel. Yoga will start up on Thursday, September 13th and
will run every Thursday through December (except for those noted). Cost is
$5 per person. If you are attending for the first time, please arrive a few
minutes early to sign a health waiver and meet the instructor. Any
questions, please contact Carrie Santucci at 630-532-7741 or funkylarry@yahoo.com. There
will be no class October 25th, November 22nd and December
27th.
Adventurers is
Back!
Adventurers is
a group of adults from WUMC who have been socializing once a month for many
years. We may go to a restaurant, play, or someone's home. We
have great fun visiting our local businesses. A host volunteers each month
then chooses the activity, gets the facts to the church office so they can
be in the newsletter and bulletin (office@woodridgeumu.org)
, and possibly hosts the group at their house for dessert and more easy
conversation.
The potluck
cookout scheduled for September 22nd has been changed
to October 20th. If you can host a September outing,
please contact Gwenn Edman.
